ODE TO THE WATERING CAN
We took on the challenge of dedicating a mini-museum to such a seemingly trivial object as the watering can. This immersive, atmospheric space engages all the senses, centering on the watering can as both a familiar tool and a nostalgic symbol. Through extensive research and personal interviews, we explored the watering can's functionality, cultural significance, and its connections to childhood memories.
The exhibit contrasts a nostalgic, playful scene with a documentary perspective, incorporating elements like a classic green 10L watering can on a pedestal, sensory experiences (the scent of lavender, garden sounds), and a sandbox to evoke the feel of a garden environment. The branding combines serif and sans-serif fonts to reflect the nostalgic versus rational sides of the concept, with colors drawn from the green watering can itself. The cover features interlocked watering cans, symbolizing the emotional, almost lifelike bond with this everyday object. Additionally, right-angled headline arrangements subtly echo both the museum's architecture and the pouring motion of a watering can, tying the exhibit's design elements seamlessly into its theme.
